Israel is not currently open for tourism purposes. Only citizens and those with special exemptions can travel to the country as there is also a 14-day quarantine period for most travelers.
The recent easing of restrictions on passenger arrivals at Ben Gurion International Airport is a positive sign that the country is making progress in managing the coronavirus pandemic.
Is Israel open for tourism?
For now, tourists from the UAE keen to take advantage of Etihad’s new services will need to wait a little longer to learn more about the history of Jerusalem or to enjoy the beaches of Tel Aviv. But when the door to travel reopens, the airline anticipates that there will be significant demand between Israel and the UAE, both for business and leisure purposes.
When tourism is allowed again, travelers from the UAE will be able to visit Tel Aviv and enjoy its beaches, food and culture via a short three-and-a-half hour flight from Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Both countries rank high in vaccination rates for Covid-19, allowing for the possibility of a vaccine corridor to facilitate travel between the two destinations.
